With the help of a native mountain guide who knows perfectly the area, you will come across nomads and drive through some magnificent and remote scenery. Assistance is provided by a team of practised muleteers.

     MGOUN Trek "8 Days "

From 03 To 10 October 2005

  In the north of Central High Atlas, where the mountains become impenetrable and practically
  no roads cross them, a number of summits tower up reaching the altitude of 4000metres
  above sea level: M'Goun (at 4068 metres) and Ouaougoultza t (at 3770). At their feet,
  the Berber valleys of Ait Bougmez, Ait Bouali and Imehrane, isolated from the rest of the country,
  for a long period, by snow and difficult access, are protected oasis of prosperity in the middle
  of austere and boundless mountains. The inhabitants, proud artisans of an astonishing
  human scenery, have built the most beautiful villages of the Atlas Mountains .
  In these mountains, sheltered from the heat of the plains, this trek will allow you to discover
  mountain people, forgotten in sublime landscapes. You can make the ascent of M'Goun as well
  as the descent of Tassaout, an immense canyon that has been dug out by the river at the
  foot of M'Goun chain.

5 to 7 hrs walk a day/ at a maximum height of 1000 metres above sea level

Day 1 : Arrival to Marrakech Airport , welcome and transfer to your hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 2 : Transfer by 4WD cars or minibuses to Ait Bougemaz going through Azilal .
Spend the night at Agouti village inhabitant(s).

Day 3 : Departure to the Valley of Arous to reach in the evening.
Bivouac night: sleeping under canvas (tents) at an altitude of 2300 metres above sea Level at Azib Ikiss.
5 hrs walk on an uneven land at an altitude of 600 metres above the sea level.

Day 4 : Climbing the pass of Tizi N'Tazite and Tizi N'Targadit. Panoramic view of Ait Bougumez valley. Bivouac night at Targadit, at 3000 metres.
7 hrs walk, 700 metre of uneven land .

Day 5 : Ascent of M'Goun (at 4080 metres) and descent to Azib Imi n'Oulaoune.
Bivouac night at 2600 metres. 7 hrs walk, 1000 metres uneven land.

Day 6 : Trek from Azib Imi n'Oulouane to Imi n'Oulaoune.
Bivouac night under canvas at 1700 metres. 6 hrs walk.

Day 7 : Driving from Imi n'Oulouane to Ouarzazate by means of 4WD cars.
Arrival to Marrakech.
Night at the hotel.

Day 8 : Transfer to the airport of Marrakech for a departure that we hope will be a temporary farewell.
